New technology which would enable scientists to spot smaller, Earth-sized planets that orbit distant stars is about to become a reality. Currently the available methods are limited to finding larger, Jupiter-sized planets. A new laser technology method is being developed by scientists and engineers at Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and MIT. This is apparently very exciting and will help aid the search for habitable, Earth-like planets. Check it out:
