First solar eclipse of 2008
The first solar eclipse of 2008 will occour on February 7. Both the Sun and Moon will be in front of the stars of Capricornus the Sea Goat. People who are in parts of Antarctica or the southern regions of the Pacific Ocean will be able to see it.
An annular eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon, and Earth line up, with the Moon in the middle. Unlike a total solar eclipse, the Moon lies too far from Earth to cover the Sun's entire disk so part of the light is still visible. It looks like a pretty sweet sight.
