Several institutions, representing seven nations, including the US, China, and Australia have come together to create a space station on the highest point on the Antarctic Plateau. The site is believed to be the best for ground-based observation because it is the coldest, driest place on earth. The space stations itself is entirely robotic. There are seven telescopes, four of which are filtered to take pictures of the sky in different color or wavelength.
